Internship - Marc de Groot Design

During my internship with lighting designer Marc de Groot, I had the opportunity to develop a new lamp concept for his collection. The modular design allows the lamp to be easily scaled to fit different spaces by simply adding additional prisms and connectors.

“The Prisma Light”

To align the concept with the existing design language of Marc de Groot, I refined the form and details accordingly. Drawing inspiration from mathematical structures and the precision of origami, I began experimenting with equilateral prisms and laser-cut connections within the world of sheet metal. Although I wasn’t able to deliver a fully functioning prototype within the six-month internship period, I gained valuable insights from Marc and his expertise in working with metal.

Design a lamp in the signature style of Marc de Groot, with sheet metal as the primary material focus.
