Kartent
At the start of my design studies my project got voted to be produced by Kartent. This is a company focused on creating sustainable and innovative cardboard products, aiming to reduce waste and promote eco-friendly alternatives.
“The Three of Nine Lives”
We were given the assignment to design a laser-cut product made entirely out of cardboard, specifically for cats. I focused on the needs of both the animal and its owner: a cat wants to keep its claws sharp, while an owner wants to protect their furniture. After many iterations, this final product was developed and remained available on the KarTent website for about four years.
Design a “Kartent” product that fits within their production and assembly methoding. The product has to be made for cats and can only consist out of cardboard.
Assignment
Developed skills in cost estimation, rapid prototyping, and precision laser cutting. Gained experience in designing for a replenishment-based product system, where recurring customer interaction is essential to product functionality. Conducted user needs research and translated insights into design choices using Adobe Illustrator.
