SIngapore Airlines.

Here you see a meal tray designed in the style of Singapore Airlines, specifically tailored for intercontinental flights. Together with two fellow students, we developed the idea to optimise the loading of the trolleys used to transport these meals. This design allows for 20% more meals to be served per round.

“A luxurious aesthetic combined with functionality and ease of use principles”

Because the meal trays are designed with two different levels, they can partially slide into each other within the trolley. A SMART Lock-In system connects the trays, so when you pull out the first tray in line, the next one follows automatically. By simply pushing the tray upwards, it detaches from the one behind it.

Assignment

Design a combination meal tray for an airline of your choice, intended for use on intercontinental flights. The packaging must comply with international aviation regulations and meet current standards regarding dimensions, material resistance, and spatial efficiency. The meal tray is specifically designed to serve dinner during long-haul flights.
